Book Squirt

My Week in Tweets

This week I:

-Went to the new house many, many times to check on progress.
-Resisted the urge to tweet a new picture EACH AND EVERY TIME.
-Added links at the bottom of a bunch of blog posts and caught mistakes I’d made.
-Watched Persuasion with Mom and ended up being trapped on the bed.
-Started thinking about what I’m going to blog about when I’m done with Outward Bound.

My Little Sisters Are Growing Up

Recently, I’ve become astonished at the things my little sisters have started doing. I went out to the barn one night and immediately ran back to the soaproom to get the video camera.

This is what Jade was doing:

How cool is that?

(And yes, I’m posting this because I didn’t have time to write my Outward Bound post today. Sorry. :))

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Today isn’t the best birthday – it’s snowing out, we’re stuck in the soaproom because of the goats, and we’re all really tired.  But because it’s a birthday, that automatically makes it better. 🙂 We’ve had a bit of a lazy day, sleeping in and not doing anything unless it’s necessary.

Since I had some time, I looked through old pictures to see if I could come up with any of me and Mom. There were only a couple, and most of them had someone else in them. But the ones I were able to come up with had lots of memories attached

This one reminds me of the time Mom, Indigo and I went down to Florida to sell soap at Grandma’s community festival. Grandma bought us the plane tickets, and she wanted us to get there as soon as possible. So she bought the tickets for 5:30 in the morning. LOL

Ready to go at 3 am

In this picture, Mom and I are making soap. This was back before Dad was home full time, and this was when our batches were so small we could do them in a 5lb bucket. That green pitcher there held the milk, and we had these really uncomfortable goggles that we had to wear. They always fogged up on you – I hated those things. LOL

Me and Mom making soap

This picture reminds me of different days, a long time ago. There’s no bookcase filled with soap behind me, so we hadn’t started the business yet. And those are our old couches in them – we had to buy new ones because the springs started coming out of those. It seems couches aren’t meant to hold up to 8 kids jumping on them. *looks around innocently*

Hewitt, Mom, Indigo, and me

There were some more, but this is all I had time to get up here. I’ve got to go help clean up so we can have some family time. 🙂

I just spent an hour looking at pictures so I could say Happy Birthday, Mom. It’s a good thing I wasn’t supposed to be doing something else! 😀

Oh yeah – Happy Birthday, Mom. I love you so much!

Recently

A lot has been going on with the Jonas Family! So, here’s a quick recap of what’s been going on, in no particular order.

  • I went to Disney World with my family, and had a great time. Our friends the Williams also came with us, and we enjoyed spending time with them.

  • Our house is getting closer to being done every day!

  • I got past the half way point on my online Drivers Ed! I can get my license on June 11th, and I hope to be at the DMV bright and early that day. 😀
  • Since September 3rd, I have gotten a post up every day. That puts me at over 150 days straight! When I started this blog last May I never thought that would happen. This is actually my 199th post since I started the blog. Tomorrow’s will be the 200th!
  • While I was at Disney, I was on Twitter and I just so happened to see that Gina had posted a blog post. I enjoy reading her blog, so I clicked over. Well, she made me (almost) cry at Disney with her blog post, Now I Don’t Have To Kick Myself. And just so you know, Gina, I can’t wait to meet you in person and give you a hug. 🙂
  • I’m nearing the end of my Outward Bound recap and I don’t know how I should feel about that. Part of me is excited to be done with it, ready to move on. But the other part of me is really sad to see how close I am to the end. I know that when I’m done I’ll be glad I recapped it. I’ve been having so much fun reliving the memories, and I hope that everyone who reads this blog has enjoyed it too.
  • Kidding season is around the corner, and I don’t know if I should be scared or thrilled. I’ll probably decide to be both. I’m scared because we’ve never had this many goats to kid, and we’ll be commuting for it. I’m thrilled because, YAY BABY GOATS!
  • My little sister is turning seven in less than a week. SEVEN. She was just a baby a few months ago, right?!?

So that’s what’s been happening recently with me. 🙂

Little Sisters

I love mine. They can make me mad, but I love them.

Ever since I can remember, I have wanted little sisters. And all I got? Were little brothers. Five times, I got little brothers. I cried when we learned that Hewitt was a boy.

And then Mom got pregnant again, and she decided to have this baby at home. And we were not going to find out whether it was a boy or a girl. I was sure that it was going to be a boy. I just knew it. We were going to have a Icarus, Isaac or Issachar. (Or Issaboat, or Issaplane. The boys could not decide which method of transportation they were going to name their new brother after. LOL).

And then it was February 23rd, and the baby was coming! We called my piano teacher to come and keep the boys upstairs. I stayed downstairs, reading “Carry On Mr. Bowditch” and waiting to help with anything. I heated hot socks, and went back to reading. And I heated the hot socks again, and went back to reading. Then Mrs. Cox (the midwife) called me to come get the hot sock quickly. I heated it up as fast as I could, and brought it to the door. Mrs. Cox grabbed it out of my hands, and shut the door quickly. I went back to the couch, but I did not read. I listened.

And in about 20 seconds, I heard a baby cry. I waited for about a minute before I went and knocked at Mom and Dad’s door. When Mrs. Cox let me in, I went and crawled up on the bed. Mom had the baby snuggled up to her chest. I said, “A boy?” And Mom told me they had not looked yet.

Then she asked me if I wanted to look.

I said no. There was no way I was going to look and see that it was a boy. No sir, not me!

So Dad looked. And then looked again.

“Any guesses?”

“It’s a boy…” I said, and I got really close to crying. Then Dad said, “Nope!”

And all I could do was stare.

And then I snuggled up close to my mom, and my baby sister.

I had a sister. 🙂 To say I was happy would have been understatement. I was ecstatic. To be sure, I was not so ecstatic when Indigo kept me up at night, but I was still happy.

I was trying to find some pix of the two of us when she was a baby, but no such luck. I found a couple cute ones though!
