I’ve recently gotten my younger siblings hooked on Brian Jacques Redwall series, and I’m so glad I found the series a couple of years ago!
Redwall
Redwall is a very enjoyable series, filled with talking animals and adventure, friends and enemies. There are twenty-two books in the series, each with different main characters. (There are a couple that share characters, but Martin the Warrior is one of the only names that you see in every book.)
My siblings like to run away and hide with these books, and I can’t blame them! If you’ve never read these books, you should. They’re pretty amazing! I was so sad to learn that Brian Jacques died this past year. No more Redwall books. 🙁
Have you read any of these? What did you think of them?

They sound really good. Honestly I’ve never read a description of them. I do know that they are extremely popular. I’m an adult librarian at a small public library. Although I try to read a couple of children’s books every year so that I can recommend something to parents, I never getting around to the series that fly off the shelves! From your description, it seems like you don’t loose much by reading the books out of order. If that’s true I should probably just check one out and have a cozy tea and book afternoon.

Nope, you don’t really need to read them in order. I do recommend starting with Redwall though. You can figure thing out if you start with another one, but when you start with Redwall you understand just about everything from the beginning. 🙂
I hope you love them as much as I do! They’re definitely great books for a cozy afternoon. 🙂 I checked out your blog – the first dog for I was soooo adorable! 😀 And the first one for K looks like my dogs. 🙂

I’ve never heard of these books. What age range are they aimed at? Always on the look out for new books for my children.
Brett Jonas says:
On Amazon it says 8 and up, but if you’re reading it out loud the younger kids would probably love it. We read it out loud and our four year old kept begging for the next chapter. 😀
If you get it, I hope your kids love it! It’s a great book, and the series is awesome. 🙂

OMG! That exact book you have a pic of used to live in my basement library (pre-flood). My brother read it. I was sure, when we were little that he only read it because of his mouse obsession (he was fascinated by them), until years later I heard someone else talking about them and found out how popular they were!
I can’t believe I haven’t read any of these yet!
My husband and I recently started reading the “Mouse Guard” graphic novel, which reminded me of these books the first time I saw it.
Thanks for the reminder. I think I’ll pick one up on my next trip to the library.
Brett Jonas says:
We have that exact copy too. Except ours looks a little more worn – it’s covered in stains, and the edges are messed up. 🙂
They’re really, really good. You should definitely read them! LMK what you think of them when you do! 🙂
Nicole Rivera says:
I’ll definitely let you know! I have to tell my husband, too. I think, with our recent Mouse Guard obsession, he’ll be interested too!
Brett Jonas says:
Everyone should be interested in the Redwall books. 😀
